Indian Pea Fowl

SCIENTIFIC NAME: Pavo cristatus

The Indian Pea Fowl is most commonly known as the Peacock.  These large, brightly colored birds have a distinctive crest and an unmistakable ornamental train of feathers.  Their train makes the male peafowl one of the largest flying birds in the world.

A group of peafowl is called an ostentation, or a pride—very appropriate for this showy bird!
