Media Statement on the Passing of Shirley the Elephant

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Tuesday morning, Shirley, a female Asian elephant living her retirement at Wild Adventures, passed away at the age of 78. Shirley was believed to be the oldest living Asian elephant in the United States, possibly the world, with the median age for female Asian elephants being 47 years.

Shirley was beloved and cherished by all that had the honor of meeting her and will be dearly missed.
