During the months of January, February, and beginning of March, many of our guests always
want to know what’s going on in the park. During this period, which we refer to as “the off season”, many different projects take place that would not be possible during normal operation.
For instance, we do lots of renovating – new paint, new fences, patching trails and paths. We
also use this time to introduce new animals, and build their habitats, as well as adding new rides and restaurants, and performing routine maintenance on all of our rides.

During the off-season, the maintenance team at Wild Adventures is hard at work preparing for park open, and James Howard, our ride maintenance manager, has been in the theme park industry for 14 years. His love of theme parks started as a little kid and has grown over the years.
“I love working on these rides and really seeing them come to life,” said James Howard when asked about what his favorite part of the job is.
Right now, the maintenance team is busy preparing for the new expansion, Water’s Edge, coming to the park Spring 2025. This new area will feature three family rides, a quiet room for those with sensory sensitivities, new eateries, centralized bathrooms, a new concert stage for live music performances, and brand new animal exhibits.
While our maintenance team performs routine maintenance on our rides everyday throughout the year, some rides require more extensive care, and we use the off season as a period to provide that care. During these maintenance checks, some rides are completely taken apart to find the pieces that need to be replaced. It’s our maintenance teams job to find the problem, order the part, and then reassemble the ride.
“Safety is number one, especially when we keep in mind that people are coming in here and trusting us to get on these rides,” said Howard.
Our maintenance team works hard to make sure each ride is safe before park open and every morning before guests arrive.
“If we don’t feel comfortable putting our own family on it, we’re not going to be comfortable putting our guests on it,” said Howard.
You can always spot a maintenance team member as their Wild Adventures uniforms are navy blue t shirts. If you see a maintenance team member during your next visit, tell them thank you
for keeping you safe!
