VALDOSTA, Ga. – Professional pumpkin carver Jim Morey is making his return to Wild Adventures for Great Pumpkin LumiNights and The Pumpkin Spice Festival, where guests can watch a live demonstration of his pumpkin carving skills for two select weekends during the event.
Hailing from Huntington Beach, California, Morey is known for carving unbelievable likenesses of celebrities, sports stars, newscasters and even beloved pets into craft pumpkins.
“We’re very excited to have Jim back for the third year of Great Pumpkin LumiNights,” said Adam Floyd, director of sales and marketing. “Guests love watching him work, and his craft complements our family-friendly fall event so well that we partnered with him to deliver an entire attraction featuring his intricate carvings, the LumiNight Legends Pumpkin Gallery.”
The LumiNight Legends Pumpkin Gallery features 175 foam pumpkins hand-carved by Morey. It includes depictions of famous Georgians, regional icons, beloved members of Wild Adventures’ animal family and other captivating figures.
“Jim created 20 new carvings for us this year that feature all-time great athletes and more local icons,” said Floyd. “We are excited to show off these new additions and for guests to experience the entire gallery.”
The LumiNight Legends Pumpkin Gallery is open during each day of Great Pumpkin LumiNights. Jim Morey will be providing in-person demonstrations and question and answer sessions October 4-6 and October 11-13 inside the gallery. Guests will have the opportunity to ask questions about pumpkin carving and learn tips and tricks.
“This is the fourth year that Great Pumpkin LumiNights and The Pumpkin Spice Festival has returned to Wild Adventures”, said Madison Tucker, public relations specialist. “The park transforms with hundreds of jack-o-lanterns, thousands of glowing lights and towering pumpkin sculptures.”
The signature attraction of Great Pumpkin LumiNights are the towering animal statues, including a giraffe, alligator, giant spider and more. Each statue is hand-crafted and made of stacked, carved pumpkins.
“This year, we added a regal lion, a smiling zebra, and a ‘flamboyance’ of flamingos to our statue collection,” said Tucker. “Each statue glows brightly in the night and allows families to create perfect fall photos with each other.”
In addition to the larger-than-life pumpkin sculptures, Great Pumpkin LumiNights features many family-friendly activities. Kids can experience Jack & Luma’s Play Land featuring Georgia’s largest pumpkin foam party, a glow maze and another new attraction for this year, the Garden of Giants.
“Our Garden of Giants is filled with pumpkins that are truly larger than life”, said Tucker. “It features enormous live pumpkins that weigh between 500 and 1,000 pounds.”
Great Pumpkin LumiNights will also feature new entertainment from the Pumpkin Pop n’ Lock Duo and Hoops of Wonder shows, trick-or-treating for kids, as well as the country’s largest celebration of a classic fall flavor, The Pumpkin Spice Festival.
“Our pumpkin spice treats just keep growing,” said Tucker. “Guests can enjoy nearly 30 pumpkin spice-inspired sips, bites, snacks and treats including new additions like Pumpkin Patch Corn Dog with Swirly Fries, Pumpkin Pie Punch, and other fall-flavored treats.”
Great Pumpkin LumiNights is included in park admission or with a Season Pass. 2025 Wild Adventures Season Passes will be available at the best price until October 27, 2024. Park admission and Season Passes can be purchased at the park or online at WildAdventures.com.
