VALDOSTA, Ga. – Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, Ga., will reopen this weekend after being temporarily closed due to Hurricane Helene. As the park welcomes guests back for Great Pumpkin LumiNights, it will also be making a donation to Second Harvest of South Georgia to support continued recovery efforts in the community.
Wild Adventures has been closed for clean-up and recovery since Hurricane Helene brought 100 mph winds and widespread damage to the region. While the storm caused some damage to fences, awnings, and a few outdoor structures, all attractions and animals are safe thanks to the dedication of the park’s team members.
“We were very fortunate,” said Jon Vigue, vice president and general manager of Wild Adventures. “Our team members were onsite throughout the storm, ensuring the safety of our animal family and working tirelessly to secure the park. I’m incredibly grateful for their dedication, and it is their hard work that is allowing us to reopen this weekend to give families an opportunity to enjoy some much-needed fun and escape.”
Wild Adventures will open on Saturday, October 5, from noon to 9 p.m., and Sunday, October 6, from noon to 8 p.m. Guests can look forward to the annual Great Pumpkin LumiNights, where the park transforms into a glowing autumn wonderland filled with festive fall activities, towering pumpkin sculptures and several new attractions for 2024.
“Wild Adventures has always been a place where families can come to create memories, especially during difficult times,” Vigue continued. “It’s because of the support of this community that we’re able to reopen quickly and give back in return. That’s why we’re making a donation to Second Harvest of South Georgia, which has been on the front lines helping families impacted by the storm.”
Second Harvest of South Georgia has been instrumental in providing food and essential supplies to those affected by Hurricane Helene.
“This generous donation from Wild Adventures will help us continue our recovery efforts and provide much-needed support to families across the region,” said Frank Richards, CEO of Second Harvest of South Georgia. “We are deeply thankful for their partnership and commitment to our community during this challenging time.”
Wild Adventures hopes the donation will inspire others to give to support recovery efforts as many in our community remain impacted by the storm.
“For over 25 years, Wild Adventures has been a part of this community, and we’ve always been amazed by the strength and resilience of the families we serve,” Vigue said. “This donation is a reflection of our appreciation of our community, and we are committed to doing everything we can to support our neighbors during this recovery.”
